Peacock Lounge: Euphotic, Headboggle, Sean Keenan, Wizardmaster

July 9 8pm-11pm Peacock Lounge, 552 Haight, SF
All-ages, $5-$15 notaflof
Euphotic
This is the supertrio of Cheryl Leonard, Tom Djll and Bryan Day euphonizing the Natural, the Physical, and the Imaginary. Natural: penguin bones, driftwood, stones, feathers; Physical: gravity, friction, resonance, and kinesis; Imaginary: breath and circuitry making unimaginable sounds real via plotted electricity. And then there’s whatever blue-green chemical bath you’ve got going between your own ears. Come slosh that good stuff into a standing wave right inside the Peacock Lounge.

Headboggle
Hey Rocky, watch him pull a habit out of a rat! Bullwinkle knows, Headboggle is the manifestation of Derek Gedalecia’s acoustic/electronic performance-art research flourishing his very own kitchen sink which at any moment might uncork with Moog, Harmonica, Banjo, Sackbut, Harpsichord, EMS Synthi, Violin, Drums, Clavinet, Serge Modular, field recordings or your very own writhing brain. You thought it sounded familiar… find out at last what it’s been trying to tell you all these years.
Sean Keenan
So steady you’d think there was a molten nickel core spinning inside him, Keenan’s musical moves feel inexorable. Don’t let the stoic demeanor of a soul braving a carboniferous planetary demise fool you, this is no ambient drone but a full tilt soft onslaught. Just as the Earth shifts and cracks so wide open that you can’t see it, you’ll feel and hear this before your eyes ever get around to believing themselves. Percussion, bizarre reeds, and electronics arise like features of a landscape spilling you off your own feet. Keenan’s collaborations with Cranky and as a member of the This Never Happenned collective only extended the unviewable picture. Definitely dig up those recordings but first shut your eyes, bury yourself like a seismometer inside the Peacock Lounge and excurse across miles of sound.

Wizardmaster
Mark Stramaglia attained Wizardom when first he conjured custom synths from clay then wiggled his claws to weave the invisible algorithms now seething within. You can sneak inside apprentice-like to conjure mops of your own imagining using his online WMCP Generative Synth, the link is below. Visual bewitchery from Oliver Kollar expands the spell by capturing your eyes, plopping your own consciousness into Wizardmaster’s unholy brew. Prepare to be ensorcelled as these lamia attach their instruments to power, speaker, screen and soul inside the Peacock Lounge.
