ODC Theater: 2025 FACT/SF Summer Dance Festival

August 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The image shows the text "FACT/SF" in bold, white, uppercase letters on black, irregularly shaped squares resembling typewriter keys.

FACT/SF is a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company, founded in 2008 by Artistic Director Charles Slender-White as a platform for organizing collaborators, building community, and creating choreography.

FACT/SF’s Summer Dance Festival brings together an array of contemporary dance works by choreographers from the Bay Area and beyond. The purpose of the Festival is to juxtapose a variety of works to spur dialogue, support artists and artistic growth, and present to audiences a range of perspectives. The first weekend will include works by FACT/SF, Jenna Riegel (Amherst, MA), and The Davis Sisters (Charlotte, NC & Boston, MA). The second weekend will include works by local groups seymour::dancecollective and Claire Evangelho & Ezra LeBank, alongside works by visiting artists Heather Dutton (Brooklyn, NY), Dani Oblitas (Chicago, IL), and the Taja Will Ensemble (Minneapolis, MN).

Program One:
The first weekend of FACT/SF’s Summer Dance Festival includes three works: world premieres by FACT/SF and Jenna Riegel (Amherst, MA), and a West Coast premiere by The Davis Sisters (Charlotte, NC & Boston, MA). FACT/SF’s Maelstrom, choreographed by Charlie Slender-White, is a whirling quartet about tides, cycles, and dislocation. In Make (It) Work: ((A) Work In Process) (Working Title), The Davis Sisters attempt to HAVE IT ALL while exploring themes of commitment, late-stage capitalism, multiplicity, and determinism. And, Jenna Riegel’s to the marrow (commissioned by FACT/SF and performed by Charlie Slender-White and LizAnne Roman Roberts), explores the heartfelt connections at the core of a long lasting friendship as it traverses the perpetual passage of time.

Program Two:
Join us for six exciting works by the Bay Area’s Claire Evangelho & Ezra LeBank, seymour::dancecollective, and FACT/SF, and visiting artists Dani Oblitas (Chicago, IL), Heather Dutton (Brooklyn, NY), and the Taja Will Ensemble (Mni Sota Makoce – Minneapolis, Minnesota). FACT/SF’s 6th annual Summer Dance Festival celebrates the abundance and variety of work coming out of the local dance community, featured alongside dynamic dance artists from beyond the Bay. Audiences will experience an array of risk-taking short works that span genre, style, and theme.
