Garden for the Environment: Container Gardening

May 30 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
A variety of potted plants, including succulents and flowering plants, are arranged outdoors among large pots and garden soil.

Learn pruning methods that keep your garden shrubs and small trees healthy and looking beautiful. Get hands-on practice, too!

Do you want to grow a garden in the city, but don’t have a backyard? All you need is the right light, appropriate plants, and a container with good soil. Make use of your window sills, deck, stairway, and other small spaces. Containers for both edible and ornamental plants will be covered.

Instructor Jamie Wollum is a landscape designer, gardener, and educator with a passion for creating beautiful, functional spaces. Her background includes working as a full-time elementary school garden teacher, managing a Bay Area–wide school garden program, and leading the youth and outreach programs at Garden for the Environment. She studied landscape architecture at Merritt College in Oakland and spends as much time as possible in the garden
