Good afternoon!

Educators in the San Francisco schools have been accompanying immigrant families to ICE check-ins and hearings, trying to help them avoid deportation orders. Clara-Sophia Daly follows one mother and a middle-school social worker through a nerve-wracking day of appointments.

The police commission voted last night to advance a new SFPD drone policy, despite public opposition and warnings that it didn’t address concerns about data security. Frankie Solinksy Duryea explains what kinds of drone surveillance would be allowed.

Frankie’s new story on how the S.F. district attorney’s blanket boycott of a judge was overturned suggests that that prosecutors and public defenders may no longer be able to universally block the judges they don’t like from hearing cases.

And take a look at the Richmond Buzz: Nicholas David writes about what’s coming up at the Clement Street Art Fair and the Internet Archives.

More soon,
