Three suspects were arrested following the stabbing of three others in broad daylight at 16th and Mission on Saturday, according to the San Francisco police department.
Saturday’s attack took place on the debut of a city-funded pilot seeking to activate the BART plazas with vendors and family activities.
Of the three victims, two are suffering from life-threatening wounds.
At approximately 4:56 p.m., San Francisco police officers arrived at the scene and found three men suffering from apparent stab wounds, according to a statement from the police department. Officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the subjects to the hospital.
Initial reports indicated one suspect had been arrested, but in today’s statement, the police department confirmed two additional arrests later on Saturday.
The three arrestees are 37-year-old Luis Enrique Lopez Brito, 30-year-old Jose Alfredo Lopez Brito and 45-year-old Mariel Cahvich.
The Britos were booked for conspiracy and assault likely to create great bodily injury. Cahvich was booked for attempted murder, conspiracy and assault likely to produce great bodily injury.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the first suspect approached a victim and a verbal confrontation turned physical. The victim fled the scene, approaching a group known to him for help.
“Soon after, the suspect approached the victim and the group, and another physical altercation occurred. The initial suspect was physically assaulted and suffered from life-threatening injuries while another suspect suffered from non-life-threatening injuries,” read the statement.
Just a few hours earlier, Mayor Daniel Lurie had visited the plazas and talked to vendors, city workers and ambassadors regarding a pilot pop-up that included seven vendors and family activities such as face painting and a piñata-making workshop at both 16th Street plazas.
This is an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.

Another day at the office at the Plazza…same B.S at 24th street..only in the US..any civilized society knows how to properly deal and fix these problems…and how long this has been going on? It is not only here, look at all the big cities run by Orange Cult like members, Gestapo Mollah’s men, I mean the old republican party. Start paying attention to the Mollahs states (where Gestapo is welcomed) and see how much money they get every year from the government they hate so much..they produce nada but they get money and on top, they got too many representatives, vote and decide elections and the number of bibles in each school for the rest of the country..wake up America, just look at the numbers for the states, how much they get, etc…and how much power they should not have..if you produce nada, you should get nada, right? it is the american way,no? oh i see it not fair..i see…snakes!~
Today, January 12, I took BART to get downtown. While the 16th plaza was relatively clear, the open air market that usually occupies that space had moved to the middle of the block between 16th and 17th streets, thereby making the sidewalk unpassable.
