At 2:36 p.m. on Tuesday, San Francisco firefighters responded to a small fire at a home on Hill Street, a block-long street connecting Valencia and Guerrero streets in the Mission District.
The one-alarm fire was quickly put out, and no injuries were reported, said San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson Samuel Menchaca. The fire, he said, started in the back deck of a three-story building at 14 Hill St., and caused some damage to the house next door.
It is unclear if anyone on Hill Street will be displaced, as the fire department is waiting for the Department of Building Inspection to evaluate damage and determine if residents can re-enter their homes.
One resident said the fire was started by a cigarette, but Menchaca said the department would investigate the cause, and did not yet know. The fire started on the third story of the building.
According to a neighbor, a Waymo, driving up the street during the incident, pulled over to the side and was blocked in by the fire truck.
