The De Young says our muralists are “one of San Francisco’s greatest contributions to the artistic landscape.” It could definitely be argued that Clarion Alley beats the pants off that Gerhard Richter hanging in the atrium. And that piece of toast made by Jasper Johns.

Among the highlights:

Koret Auditorium, 7 p.m.

Mission Muralismo presents “an intimate look at the world of sprayers, writers, taggers and graffiti artists of every stripe.”

Hands-on art making for everyone, Wilsey Court, 6-8:30 p.m.

Learn how to make Mayan graffiti. Not contemporary graffiti. Mayan graffiti.

July Artist-in-Residence Jeanine Briggs, Transfigurations, 1-8:30 p.m.

Briggs is supervising the building of  a full-scale dinosaur from recycled materials, to be called Detritussaurus. It will, ideally, not be exposed to nuclear fallout, come to life and go rampaging all over the city. If it does, I’m sure NERT will take care of it.

All events are free with admission. Full list of events here.
