Good morning!

Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie has announced his ten-person transition team, which includes former SF controller Ben Rosenfield, Sam Altman of OpenAI, and SF Democratic Party chair Nancy Tung. It’s quite a mix: Mike Bloomberg vibes, some classic Clinton/Feinstein/Newsom figures, and a few from Lurie’s foundation world.

The “fastidiously nonpartisan” and uber-competent Ben Rosenfield served 16 years as controller. See the back story: Joe Eskenazi‘s report on how Rosenfield earned “near-universal trust and respect” for his unparalleled knowledge of the city’s budget and workings.

Hmm, despite a narrative that SF is moving into a more conservative era, voters’ choices in this election aligned best with organized labor and progressive voter guides, though there’s a glaring exception. See the breakdown by Junyao Yang.

Speaking of which, labor organizer Chyanne Chen has won in the tight D11 race against Michael Lai, who wanted to unseat progressives on the Board of Supervisors.

See you tonight at Manny’s, as Kelly Waldron and Joe Eskenazi break down the election results.

More soon,
