  3. Fair Oaks St. Halloween Street Fair was the GrandWitch of all the street halloween parties maybe. I am a long-time resident renter here, attending each year since before 2001.
Last year 2023, was bigger than ever and still festive and sweet and exciting, Amazing house decorations. A cool roof-deck DJ for ‘family friendly’ dancing with a sweet set list of songs from different eras. And people could also still greet each other,
walking the street was still possible, big happy crowds, and just a few vendors. 2024? Tonight, I guess organizers done BLEW UP this cool tradition. A Club-styled DJ Blasting at 120 dB (deafening for children, wtf?) a huge food truck set up and blocking the middle of Fair Oaks creating a bottleneck of humanity in costumes and strollers. Adults costumed as wild animals desperately seeking / saying, Where are the toilets? And this= Not much trick-or-treating going on, few houses open to provide treats or to hang out with people walking by. Got Too Loud,
Too commercialized, a victim of its own success,
For sure this event requires city permits that have to be paid for which means somebodies in the F.O. neighborhood association decided to allow (illegal) damaging noise levels? And Double sized food truck? I wonder why.
