Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

People keep selling stuff on Mission Street. The city’s made several unsuccessful attempts to stop it, including barricades, permits, indoor markets, and a total ban. Starting today, a new pilot program will let 10 vendors set up between 23rd and 24th. Read about how it’s supposed to work.

See how they run is following mayoral candidate Ahsha Safaรญโ€” and his 28-year-old campaign manager, Lauren Chung, a Los Angeles native who is “always on.” Chung tells Junyao Yang about the nitty-gritty of campaign work.

In the supervisorial races, Mission Local asked candidates in D11 what they would do to bring resources to the district, and those in D1 to explain what supervisors can’t do. Only one said, “There is nothing that a resident would ask me that I wonโ€™t work to accomplish.”

More soon,

Sara

P.S. Beginning this Sunday at noon, St. John’s will host the mayoral candidates at talks in the Mission. All events are public, free, and bilingual Spanish-English.
