The SFPD wrote an unrestrictive policy on how its officers should do foot chases, requiring cops to use their discretion and “act reasonably.” The head of the police union took to Twitter to spread misinformation about the policy, encouraging hundreds of people to write letters opposing it. The Police Commission approved it last night.
Somos Esenciales, a bilingual multimedia project, has its roots in research on essential workers in the Mission. Artists, activists, and the UCSF psychiatry department gathered workers’ stories at the Mission Food Hub about the impact of Covid on Latino immigrants, creating a documentary film, a report, presentations at the UCSF medical schoolโand now a music-powered performance.
