What a weekend. Mission Local’s Joe Rivanos Barros was on the scene Saturday, reporting into the wee hours of Sunday morning, as cops in riot gear arrested over 100 children and teenagers at a skateboarding event near Dolores Park. Reaction has been intense, and we follow up with the SFPD, angry parents, and local political figures, and cover Sunday evening’s protest at Mission Station.
In a victory for Supervisor Shamann Walton, the Bayview homeless RV site that serves largely older, Black residents will stay open for now, after the city and port tried to close it. Despite the site’s environmental risks, “it beats the heck out of the sidewalk,” says an advocate.
