On 24th, about 12:30, a crowd gathers around a fire truck with a ladder set up to rescue a hawk. Passersby say it had been staggering, apparently wounded, and managed to fly to a perch halfway up a building.

From an observant community contributor come these photos of a hawk in the Mission:

A uniformed rescuer is just about at the hawk’s level when it flies away.

Lights in a tree two blocks down, where the hawk remains, unmoving, for some time.

Epilogue: When the photographer returns after a half-hour break, a passerby says the hawk “took a dump on a motorcyclist” and, shortly after that, flew away. A street pundit adds, “Prob’ly thinkin’, ‘Musta been somethin’ I ate.’
