Police report an argument escalated into a shooting on South Van Ness Avenue near 16th Street just before midnight. Two men, one 53 and the other 45, were in a verbal altercation when the older man pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the face. The victim was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition, and the suspect was arrested.
Earlier in the week, on June 8, an attempted robbery turned into a shooting. The 43-year-old victim was walking on 24th Street toward Potrero Avenue when a man approached him with a handgun and demanded money. The victim grabbed the gun and it fired, grazing the victim’s hip. The suspect fled while the victim managed to get to the hospital. No arrest was made.
Assaults
At 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, a 45-year-old man was walking down Church Street near 19th Street when a 20-year-old man approached him, picked him up, and threw him onto the ground face first. The suspect fled, evading arrest, while the victim suffered an injuries of his eye socket area, hand and wrist. He was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
The next day, at 7:51 p.m., a 40-year-old man reportedly got into a fight with two men in their 20s near the corner of 17th and Shotwell streets and suffered lacerations on his face and head and some fractured facial bones. The older man was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition, and no arrests were made.
Robbery
A woman in her 40s reportedly pushed a 34-year-old woman off her bicycle at the intersection of 14th and Natoma streets on Sunday at 6:50 a.m., then punched the cyclist several times. The older woman then took the victim’s backpack and fled. The cyclist refused medical attention, and the robber was not arrested.
Burglary
Just after 10 a.m. on Friday, June 10, the 36-year-old resident of a building on 23rd Street near Church Street woke up and noticed a car, some bicycles, and a laptop missing from his home. Though no suspect information was available, police report the vehicle and bicycles were recovered. No arrests were made.

Better question is where are the police?
No, it’s not a better question. I’m no big fan of the SFPD, however, this is a public policy issue. Where is Mayor Lee and what is he doing about street violence and property theft?
The progressive board of supervisors has made it a policy priority to decriminalize property crimes and so-called “quality of life” crimes. This escalation of such crimes will continue as long as progressives gave a stranglehold on government.
