A man, woman, and 2-year-old child were robbed at knifepoint last night in the Mission District, though all three came through the ordeal unscathed.

A 36-year-old man, 39-year-old woman, and 2-year-old male child were walking near 29th Street and San Jose Avenue at 1 a.m. early Tuesday morning when they were approached by two male suspects of unknown age. The suspects pulled small folding knives out of their pockets and threatened the victims. One suspect pointed his knife at the male victim while the second suspect pulled the wallet from the victim’s pants. Both suspects then fled on foot.

On Wednesday at 3:06 a.m., a witness saw a man of unknown age sitting near a garbage can on Dolores Street between 16th and 17th. The man made a pile of garbage on the sidewalk and then set it on fire, walking away.

  1. Maybe they just got home from a late flight at SFO and had to part a few blocks from their house and walk home. Maybe they were at a neighbor’s house for dinner and were walking home late. What difference does it make why they were walking home at 1 a.m.? Who the hell holds someone up at knifepoint when walking with their 2 year old child? Also of note – the SF Chronicle is reporting that it happened at 1 p.m., not 1 a.m. http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Man-woman-and-2-year-old-held-up-at-knifepoint-6595676.php Some clarification here would be helpful.

    1. My point was not why they were walking at 1am but why would they have their 2 year old out that late especially in a questionable neighborhood. I’m not lambasting them for bad parenting, I’m simply opening the forum up to understand reasons of why parents would do this since to me it seems to be not the norm.
