I have lived in San Francisco since 1961 when my Dad moved us for his new employment from Stockton, CA. It was great growing up in the City back then. We lived in Eureka Valley and when I became an adult I moved over the hill to Noe Valley. In 1982 we looked to buy property and settled in the Mission. We bought a pair of flats with friends & we both raised our families here. Our adult children have moved on. We remain and continue to watch the neighborhood change.

  1. The utilities blight is disgusting.
Why does 53% of SF have underground utilities and 47% looks like this? Why aren’t the Board of Supervisors doing anything substantive to finish the under grounding that was started decades ago, but stopped over a decade ago? Even the Sups. own study in 2007 recommended that this project be completed, but their own report was ignored. Everyone who pays a PG&E bill every month has money dedicated to this project, but the Sups. and PUC don’t make PG&E accountable for where those funds go, nor are they being spent on any new under grounding projects.

Now the Sups have unanimously voted to allow cellular telephone companies put even more junk on the poles in the 47% of the City that still has above ground poles, which will significantly increase the ugly blight with no significant appeal process for individuals who have to suffer the additional blight and microwaves.
