Encuentro del Canto Popular is a music festival that began 33 years ago as a fundraiser for El Tecolote newspaper and is still going strong.

The music presented at the music festival started with the Nueva Canción school, a type of Latino folk songs that spoke about civic engagement and political movements in the 60’s and 70’s.

This year’s music festival held at the Brava Theater will feature a more contemporary lineup.
