District 9 Supervisor David Campos will host one of his first fundraising events on Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for his District 17 State Assembly campaign, which he announced in August.
The event will be a cocktail party at Blackbird, located at 2124 Market Street in the Castro. Expected to attend the event are Assemblyman Tom Ammiano and prominent members of the LGBTQ community in San Francisco like Cleve Jones, founder of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Hopefully the new supervisor of District 9 will actually do something to improve the district. I’m sure Mayor Lee will pick a suitable candidate that reflects the changing, improved demographics of District 9.
As great it is to see the district finally upgrading, there are still large sections of the Mission that are blighted, crime infested cesspools. We need someone like Scott Weiner who has made many positive contributions in District 8.
Never voted for Campos as supervisor, will not vote for him in State Assembly.
He should step down from his job as supervisor. If he planned to run for another office (and he did) he never should have sought re-election last year.
Now were stuck with a guy who’ll sell out our district to get elected to Sacramento and leave us with an Ed Lee appointee as our representative or he’ll loose and sell out the district because he’ll have hurt feelings and no political future.
Yep. It has been pretty obvious that he was looking beyond being an SF supe for awhile.
