Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, who challenged California’s Proposition 8, a voter-approved ban on gay marriage, are getting married today.
On Friday, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a stay of a court decision that found the ban on gay marriage unconstitutional, according to Bay City News. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court dismissed 5-4 an appeal Wednesday by sponsors of Prop. 8 and ruled that same-sex couples are entitled to the same benefits as opposite-sex couples.
The ceremony will take place in the rotunda at City Hall.

Congratulations, Kris and Sandy! Thank you for everything. Thanks to you, my marriage – legally performed in NYC on November 24, 2011 – is now recognized in my home state! I’m a newlywed again!
