The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Mavericks Invitational window opened Friday and will stay open until March 31. Once conditions seem favorable, organizers give participants 24 hours’ notice to get to Half Moon Bay for the competition, which features the world’s best surfers paddling into some of the world’s largest waves.
