Ten years ago, police allege, the 19-year-old and his friends offered a woman in the Mission District a ride, but instead of taking her home, they drove to an isolated part of Golden Gate Park, where they assaulted and raped their passenger and then left her stranded.

She had to flag down a car for help, police said.

On Monday, officers arrested one of the suspects in the case, Vinh Q. Chung, age 29, at his home in San Jose. He is being held at the county jail on a $5 million bond.

The case will be prosecuted by the District Attorney’s office.

Police broke the case when they were able to match DNA from the crime scene to Chung’s DNA in an SFPD database.

The whereabouts of the other two suspects is unknown.

The tacos of La Taqueria remind him of the food that his host mother used to cook when he was living in Guanajuato, Mexico. As a crime reporter he is getting to know the other side of the area. No, he is not scared (yet). On the contrary, he wants to learn more about all the community organizations that work with kids to keep them off the streets.
