I love walking up and down 24th Street any day of the week, and given how photogenic the street is, I’m not surprised that photographer Beth LaBerge has been inspired by its people and businesses. I am excited to see her work, which MissionMission reports can be seen at the Blind Cat (formerly known as Dirty Thieves). An opening party is planned for Saturday.
In other street art news, the man known as Taki183 made an appearance at the launch party for “The History of American Graffiti,” written by Roger Gastman and Caleb Neelon and published this spring by HarperCollins. Described as “a short Greek-American man named Demetrius, now 57, with glasses and a bush of salt-and-pepper hair,” Taki183 got a marker and started signing his name, as he had done all over the city in the 1970s.
