Basically, you have two options in the city:
1. 1300 Evans Ave., 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and curbside drop-off 4 to 10 p.m.
2. San Francisco’s Airport Station, 660 Field Road, window hours 11 a.m. to midnight; curbside 4 p.m. to midnight.

I’ve been a Mission resident since 1998 and a professor emeritus at Berkeley’s J-school since 2019. I got my start in newspapers at the Albuquerque Tribune in the city where I was born and raised. Like many local news outlets, The Tribune no longer exists. I left daily newspapers after working at The New York Times for the business, foreign and city desks. Lucky for all of us, it is still here.
As an old friend once pointed out, local has long been in my bones. My Master’s Project at Columbia, later published in New York Magazine, was on New York City’s experiment in community boards.
As founder/executive editor at ML, I've been trying to figure out how to make my interest in local news sustainable. If Mission Local is a model, the answer might be that you - the readers - reward steady and smart content. As a thank you for that support we work every day to make our content even better.

Thanks for providing such succinct and up to date info! It constantly surprises me – considering the amount of information we’ve become accustomed to having round the clock access to, these days- how difficult it can be to find simple, current, local information. If I want to listen to some obscure bit of music or remind myself who played Mr. Belvedere it takes me 30 seconds to find what I’m looking for. But the hours of a local post office or pharmacy?? Good luck!!
I mentioned that the hours at the Post Office located near the San Francisco airport were cut back to an 8 pm closing time. I also want to mention that the address is 660 West Field Road and it is considered in San Francisco because the airport is is managed by the city and county of San Francisco but it and the airport are actually 13 miles south of San Francisco located near San Bruno. I just wanted to clarify this because it’s a little confusing.
San Francisco’s Airport Station, 660 Field Road is now only open til 8 pm and last collection from mail dropped in boxes outside the post office is also at 8 pm. This update is as of October 16, 2018.
