San Francisco police are investigating a fatal shooting in the South of Market neighborhood that occurred early Wednesday.

Officers responded to a shooting at 1:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Sixth Street, according to a police department press release. Upon arrival, officers found a victim with gunshot wounds and rendered aid.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where the victim was pronounced dead.

Police announced the arrest of a suspect in a statement Thursday. According to the statement and jail records, police booked 33-year-old Siaosi Aleamotuay of San Francisco in the San Francisco County Jail on Wednesday, on a first-degree murder charge.

Police arrested Aleamotuay at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a department statement — about eight hours after police responded to the scene.

  1. Sixth Street has always had a strange mixture of criminals and as well as plenty of normal working people walking on it.
