Civic Center BART Station has just been closed, and there is no service between 24th Street and Civic Center stations following an explosion on the tracks, according to Anna Duckworth from the BART Communications Department.
As of 12:25 p.m. Tuesday there is no Green Line or Red Line service, according to BART.
“This is due to an equipment problem on the trackway, specifically an insulator that was blown and caused a lot of smoke to accumulate inside the station,” Duckworth said in a voice recording for media. There were no reported injuries.
“There was loud banging, and light illuminating from the stairwell,” a passenger at the Civic Center station said in a text message. It sounded like a crash, she said, but could not be certain.
Minutes later, Muni was moving. BART was not.
Delays will happen on the San Francisco line in all directions, according to a social media post from BART.
Mission Local will update this story when the information becomes available.

This is like the 3rd or 4th week in a row with major delays on a work day.
yeah, they’re really showing their incompetence…
Folks are relying on BART to get to work and if once a week every week they can’t, that’s a big problem.
