A fire department ambulance, a train, and a damaged car at a roadside scene near an intersection marked "Amador." A person is photographing the area.
A police officer photographs the collision between a Union Pacific freight train and a Cadillac on May 15, 2025.

A Union Pacific freight train struck a Cadillac at Amador Street and Cargo Way in Bayview late Thursday morning, blocking the intersection.

A San Francisco police officer told witnesses on the scene that the driver of the car had not seen the multi-car train coming. It is unclear exactly where the train and Cadillac made contact, but the train was not capable of stopping immediately.

The San Francisco Fire Department arrived at the scene at 11:27 a.m., minutes after the low-speed collision was reported.

“One adult was out of the car with minor injuries,” said SFFD Captain Jonathan Baxter. “This adult was evaluated by SFFD Paramedics and taken to a local hospital for care of non-life-threatening issues.”

The incident is being investigated by the San Francisco Police Department.

This is a breaking news story that will be updated as more information becomes available.

  1. The housing situation at Alice Groffin Housing, is just inhumane. It’s like the city housing and developers, are just neglecting these people. They might as well be living outside. Why, isn’t there regular garbage pick ups? Living conditions is truly deplorable. Every human being needs to be treated with respect!
