Eugenio Corleto, 28, has been arrested and charged with the fatal stabbing on Potrero Avenue that occurred on the last day of January, according to a news release from the San Francisco Police Department.

At 10:30 a.m. last Friday, SFPD officers from the Homicide Detail and the Community Violence Reduction Team discovered the suspect on the 2500 block of Clawiter Road in Hayward, and took him into custody, according to the release. 

The suspect was taken to the San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on charges of homicide, according to the SFPD.

The stabbing occurred on Jan. 31. Shortly after midnight, Mission Station police officers responded to an incident on Potrero Avenue between Mariposa and 18th streets and found a male suffering from stab wounds. The victim, 27-year-old Frank Chavez, was a South San Francisco resident, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Chavez died from his injuries two days later at a local hospital.

Further details about the incident are yet to be released.
