A midnight cane robbery was thwarted on Wednesday when a man attempting to rob another man of his walking aid did so in plain sight of police officers. The robber was promptly arrested on the spot.  The victim, whose age was not given, had been was walking southbound on Mission Street from 17th Street when the suspect ran up behind him and grabbed the cane from the victim’s hands. Police officers nearby witnessed the attack and took the suspect into custody immediately.
