June 30, 2015, San Francisco, CA – Southern Exposure is pleased to announce its famous annual Monster Drawing Rally, a live drawing event and fundraiser on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Verdi Club.

Over the course of the night, 120 artists split into four one-hour shifts to draw in front a live audience, making their private studio practices public. Artists at all stages of their careers create sensational works using a variety of materials: everything from collage and watercolor to ink and graphite to performative acts. As spectators spy on the creative process, sketches morph into fullfledged artworks — immediately available for $75 each.

The Monster Drawing Rally is an integral part of Southern Exposure’s mission to make art and artists more accessible. This annual gathering is a fantastic way to view new talent, interact with the Bay Area’s artistic community and support Southern Exposure’s programming all at once.

This year, the Monster Drawing Rally takes place at the Verdi Club, just a few blocks away from Southern Exposure. DJ duo Juan Luna-Avin and Joshua Pieper spin music for drawing and dancing all night long. Curbside food available for purchase from Alicia’s Tamales Los Mayas! Special thanks to New Belgium Brewing Company for their generous beverage donation.

To date, over 1,000 artists have participated in Southern Exposure’s Monster Drawing Rallies, donating their talent, time and artwork to the organization. Southern Exposure proudly shares the Monster Drawing Rally as an open source fundraising model with a growing network of artist centered organizations nationally. Partner organizations include The Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, Midway Center for Contemporary Art in Minneapolis, 1708 Gallery in Richmond, MOCAD in Detroit and Spaces in Cleveland.
