Lana Wachowski took to the streets of the Mission again today to film scenes for the upcoming Netflix series Sense8, which is being directed, written and produced by Wachowski and her brother Andy, as well as J. Michael Straczynski, creator of famed science fiction series Babylon 5.
Filming took place on Clarion Alley because the Wachowskis are interested in capturing some of San Francisco’s most famous locations. “They love this city and want to show all of its landmarks,” a producer said.
Nothing as exciting as the motorcycle stunt scene from yesterday; amid a crowd of crew members, Wachowski filmed two actors walking up and down the alley. “It’s a small dialogue scene,” said the same producer.
Historically, the group of artists that has organized the murals on the alley, the Clarion Alley Mural Project (CAMP), has protested unauthorized use of their artwork in films, commercials, or walking tours.
Time will tell if CAMP, or any other group, has something to say about the Wachowskis’ project, which will be popping up around San Francisco for about two more weeks.
Update: Since publishing this story, we’ve learned that CAMP has actually been in contact with the producers of Sense8 about using the artwork in Clarion Alley. We’ll have more details about the arrangement shortly.
Time will tell if CAMP has something to say about this?
When have that group of self-absorbed blowhards ever NOT have something to say about the public use of art they freely elected to put in a public place?
Blood pressure, John!
