Police reopened Mission Street, between 18th and 19th streets, after finding a hand grenade, Sgt. Dennis Toomer said. A man was arrested in connection with the device.

Police received reports of a suspicious device at 10 a.m. Saturday. The street was closed to traffic for approximately one hour while the bomb squad searched for the device. The suspect was then taken into custody.

According to several witnesses, a man entered several businesses on Mission Street including Cancun Taqueria, El Salvador Restaurant and George’s Market, and showed a hand grenade.

Lucilda García, who lives nearby, said that she went to walk her dog Saturday morning and police didn’t let her go in when she returned.
