Vivi Alterations occupies a small space inside the Mission Market Food Mall at 22nd and Mission streets.

There, Vivi Hernandez Juarez attends to customers and alters clothing under a fluorescent light, surrounded by colorful threads, several old sewing machines, and pants, shirts and jackets of all shapes, styles and textures.

Juarez moved to San Francisco from Mexico in 2003 and opened her own business three years ago.

This video is one in an ongoing series by Mission Local videographer Claudia Escobar, profiling Mission District business owners who came here from other countries.
