Flanary has been found safe. This story has been updated.
San Francisco police said they are searching for 22-year-old Evan Flanary, who was last seen on Tuesday, June 19, in the Mission District.
Family members told police they haven’t heard from Flanary since Tuesday, when he was going to meet a stranger he had contacted on a social media phone app at approximately 5:30 p.m. His mother, Deborah Berlingeri, wrote on Facebook that Flanary had been staying with a friend on Harrison Street.
Flanary has blond hair and blue eyes, is 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweater, a “Cal” baseball cap and a backpack.
Police said Flanary has no history of medical or psychological conditions and was not on any medication.
If you have any information regarding Flanary’s whereabouts, please contact the San Francisco Police Department’s missing persons unit at 415-558-5508.
Flanary’s mother has created a website, HelpFindEvan.com.
last time San Francisco police misbehavior with me I don’t know why.
Thank god everything worked out. Joni contacted me about this since I’m from the Mission.
Some folks on SF Chron are saying he has contacted his family. I hope this is true.
Evan’s Mom, Deborah Berlingeri, just posted this on her FB page: “He was SO SO SO apologetic that he worried about us. He had met a person, they hit it off fabulously, they were down town enjoying all the week’s festivities. The battery in his cell phone died and although he had a charger, it just wouldn’t take the charge. He never noticed the flyers but today he saw his image on a television screen and could NOT believe it. He called me just minutes before the KNTV interview was scheduled to begin, so instead of crying I was grinning like the village idiot!! I love that boy. My dear friend Torsten Hirche is with him as we speak. Love you man! Yay, now I can breathe!!!”

Thank you to everyone who has expended incredible energy and resources in attempting to locate my son, Evan Flanary. If you see him, please ask him to identify himself to any police officer and the missing person report will immediately be suspended. I would love to speak to him (and give him a huge hug) but I know I speak for everyone when I say my main concern is his SAFETY. Thank you.
