Five men whose ages were not disclosed assaulted a man while he was sleeping on Harrison near 17th Street early Wednesday morning.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, woke up when he was struck in the head with a 2-by-4 board, according to police reports. The suspects fled on foot.

The victim suffered lacerations to the forehead and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

Police were called at 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

A 32-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint at 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, police said.

The victim was walking on 23rd Street near Bartlett when a suspect, described as a man in his 20s, approached him, brandished a knife and knocked the man to the ground.

The victim gave his wallet to the suspect, who then ran to his vehicle, a silver SUV, and fled.
