A woman was hit by a van while crossing the street at the corner of 17th and Capp at around 6 a.m., police said. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
SFPD spokesman Albie Ezparza said that the woman, who police described as approximately 50 years old, was walking north on Capp Street when the driver of a van traveling westbound on 17th Street hit her, causing her to fall in the street. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
A neighbor who lives nearby said in an e-mail that the sun was not up when the incident occurred:
[Police] surrounded the bundled up body with their blue uniforms and white LED lights that they traced around the ground. I could hardly see the face but it look eerily still compared to the expressions of the people gathered round quietly.

Confused as to where the quote begins and who it should be attributed in the last graf. It seems highly unlikely that a police officer would be chastising a news organization for not sending a reporter to pester them on the scene.
Yes, you’re right. It’s confusing. The post in italics comes from a reader who alerted us to the incident, which we then checked out with police. In a sense, I think we should just delete that part of the post. Thank you, Lydia
