A 48-year-old man was struck by a bullet last night while walking down Mission Street, according to police.

The victim was walking southbound on Mission Street between 18th and 19th streets at around 9:46 p.m. He reported hearing shots fired from an unknown direction before a bullet struck him in the hip.

Police officers found the victim lying on the ground and transported him to San Francisco General Hospital, where his injuries were found to be non-life-threatening.

There is no information yet about possible suspects.

Last night’s shooting was very close to Mission and 17th streets, where a fatal shooting took place in February, but at this time there is no indication that the shooting was gang-related, according to Officer Albie Esparza.
