An 85-year-old man is recovering from head trauma and a possible hip fracture after being assaulted yesterday, according to police.

The victim was walking on 15th Street near Guerrero at around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday when the suspect opened the door to a residence and yelled at him to “Leave my door alone!”

The suspect then punched the victim, who fell to the sidewalk. No description of the suspect is available. The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, but such trauma can be devastating for a senior citizen, according to the specialists at San Francisco General Hospital. We’ve put a call in to SFPD and are awaiting more details.

In another incident, a 27-year-old woman was robbed early this morning on 18th and Oakwood. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, approached the woman from behind at 3 a.m. and pushed her to the ground.

The suspect then took her purse and fled on foot. The victim suffered an abrasion to her knee but refused medical service.

No arrests have been made.
