Last month a new bike lane was striped all the way down 17th between Church and Valencia. This week the striping was extended from Valencia to Kansas — in other words, right past our offices.

And so we felt the urge to document it. Especially since some of us read a lot of Richard Scarry books as children.

  1. I’m 66 years old, lived in Neo Valley for 40 of them. Never owned a car; my bicycle, Muni and the occasional Taxi are my means of transportation. I am grateful for the introduction and expansion of bike routes throughout the City. I use Valencia Street, in particular, almost every day and there is an issue that I feel is an ongoing problem. Illegal parking. Maybe one of your contributors could do some research. I am curious as to how many tickets for double parking in this bike lane have been issued since the lane was first established, especially to Fed-Ex, UPS and other commercial vehicles. It is particularly annoying when a ‘meter-maid’ blocks the lane to write a ticket, especially when there is a vacant space in front of the offending vehicle.
