The public is invited to a community meeting tonight at Dolores Park Church to continue the debate over the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department’s recent decision to grant permits to Blue Bottle Coffee and La Cocina to sell coffee and food in Dolores Park.

The vending permits were put on hold after local residents and merchants complained that the parks department had failed to reach out to neighborhood businesses before awarding the permits earlier this year. Due to longstanding vacations plans, Blue Bottle’s James Freeman and his wife will be unable to attend the meeting to defend their position. Instead, they sent an open letter defending commercial enterprises in parks.

The meeting will be held in the church at 455 Dolores (at Dorland) at 7 p.m.
