File photo: Two passers-by stop in front of Local Mission Eatery to buy some morning pastries.

The first week of September may be one of the most important for San Franciscans, as it seems like nearly half the city joins the annual exodus to Burning Man. But for those of us who are sticking around this year, there’s a tiny morsel to feast on: A few restaurants in and around the Mission want to say thanks.

All week, Local: Mission Eatery is giving away free Trumer pilsners to customers ordering dinner between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Contigo, the Spanish restaurant just up the hill in Noe Valley, is charging half-price for all bottles of wine $45 and under.

These are just a few of the reasons why some say Burning Man is the best thing that ever happened to San Francisco.
