The first-ever Mission Community Market took place this Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Bartlett and 22nd Streets.

The organizers have billed it as more than a farmers market. While there was tons of fresh produce, we also found crafts for sale and musical entertainment.
The market is partnering with community groups such as the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA), the Merchant’s Association and 18 Reasons to involve local businesses. Entrepreneurs from La Cocina will sell their prepared foods at the events, which will also feature non-food crafts from local businesses working with the Mission Small Business Association (MiSBA).
The market is also partnering with after-school and recreational programs to create a space where children can learn about food, art and community.

Glory be to the almighty god, I was hoping there’d be a farmer’s market slightly closer to my house. Can’t wait to check it out. Presumably there will be another this next Thursday the 29th?
