The former site of the Slanted Door at 582 Valencia Street has been an empty shell of a building since 2002, when the famed Vietnamese restaurant left the neighborhood. This will soon change.
According to words emblazoned on the window, a print shop run by Levi’s will soon open and operate there for at least 60 days. Levi’s spokesperson said that further information about the project is unavailable until July 6th.
The site next door has artwork in the window that once served as panels covering the facades of 580, 582 and 584. Neon letters in front of it announce “Everybody’s Work is Equally Important.”
The window of the soon-to-be print shop lists a number of sponsors: 826 Valencia, Adobe Books, Charles Phan, Green For All, The Edible Schoolyard, First Person Magazine, Maestrapeace, Mission Grafica, Mother Jones Magazine, Plaza Adelante, Porchlight, the San Francisco Center for the Book, SF Giants and Junior Giants, the Small Stakes, Southern Exposure and the Women’s Building.
