Rent hikes, tenant evictions, and staff cuts made for a serious news week in the Mission but now that the weekend is here we are ready to unwind with plenty to do.

Tonight at the Make-Out Room our friends from the Muni Diaries will be hosting there first spoken word party, Riders with Drinks. Riders will tell stories about their experiences getting from A to B while riding through the Mission District.  The escapades and everyday findings from the 24th St. station BART and Muni lines 12, 14, 22, 26, 33, 48, 49, 67 will be reenacted through musical performances and haikus. Drinks are sure to make this an entertaining evening.

And on Saturday take your fill of arts and culture. The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts is having their end of the semester show and exhibit from 3pm- 6p.m. Featuring salsa, Danza Azteca, mosaics, and silkscreen art at $5 dollars a ticket this is an event the whole family can afford.

And if you are in the mood to spend a little extra money Intersection for the Arts

is having their 2009 Benefit Art Auction at 7pm with $50 general admission tickets.

Also taking place is the Brava Queer Women of Film Festival. Earlier this week Mission Loc@l gave you a peek at 4 of the 33 films that are showing.

And for those weekend risk takers FoolsFury Theater will continue  their 2009 Fury Factory festival. Although we have been less than excited about their approach to cutting edge theater we are hopeful that the weekend shows will prove us wrong.  Check in with us tomorrow for a review of Hand 2 Mouth.
