An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg on Thursday afternoon while standing in front of a liquor store in the Mission District, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The man was near the corner of 25th and Harrison streets at 4 p.m. when he heard gunshots and reported being struck by two rounds from a handgun in the right calf. Officers responded to San Francisco General Hospital, where the man had been taken, but the victim was uncooperative and did not give any more information.

The police have not made an arrest.

Crime is trauma and the county offers different services. Here is a link to a page of services.

Victims of violent crime can also contact the Trauma Recovery Center at UCSF.

  1. Craig, are you getting any pushback from community members about gentrifying the neighborhood by removing liquor stores? My guess is the anti housing folks prefer liquor stores and blight to keep rents down.

  2. There is a growing movement in the inner Mission to revoke the liquor licenses of some liquor stores who contribute to blight and criminal activity in our neighborhood. Georges on 24th and Shotwell is the number one on our list. There has been 3 shootings on this corner during the last month. Help us write protest letters to the Ca Alcohol Beverage Control to revoke his liquor license. We will be meeting at the Mission Police Station on Tuesday, the 26th at 6pm to discuss the recent killings in the Mission. Please attend or conditions will continue to decline.
    Thanks
    Craig

    1. How is the liquor store responsible for people being shot outside the store? This is more a problem that needs to be address by the Supervisor whose district this is — the supervisor has done everything in his power to keep the police from doing their jobs and should be held accountable for the crime in his neighborhood… David Campos.

    2. Shall we close down any banks that get robbed too ? Why is the Liquor store responsive for some strangers shooting on the streets ? Are you responsible for someone pooping on your sidewalk ?

  3. I don’t think there is a liquor store at 25th and Harrison. Was it in front of Bob’s corner store at 26th and Harrison? I thought their liquor license was revoked a few years ago….
