Once a week for six months, Mission Local’s volunteers teach a class about how to do neighborhood reporting using photography and video. For a typical class, our volunteers plan their lessons and bring equipment that students will learn how to use and share, and then we head out to shoot pictures in the streets of the Mission.

We discuss the events happening in the neighborhood and work with students to come up with questions they can later answer in front of the camera. The material produced, such as interviews and photographs, are published on our site and in daily photo column called SNAPS.

With your donation, we will be able to continue this program to teach reporting to kids in our community. We hope you enjoy this video, followed by a slide show of the students at Buena Vista Horace Mann middle school. Thanks!
