Riots, BART officials believe, are in the air, and this week the transit system’s officials decided to shut down cellphone service to avert a protest at its stations. Earlier this week, London’s Tottenham neighborhood erupted into riots after a neighborhood man named Mark Duggan died after being shot in the chest by police.

Could it happen here? San Francisco has seen her share of riots — from the Sandlot Riots of the 1870s to Bloody Thursday in 1934 to the White Night Riot in 1979. But could one happen here, now, today?

Too bad you asked dudes standing outside of a chain store on Mission St. Perhaps they would riot if their five dollar cup of coffee wasn’t shade grown.

I’m shocked that there wasn’t a protest/riot over the three year old boy who was shot and killed by a gang member in Oakland.

Of course there wasn’t. Criminals protect their own, and then act like victims when the police get involved.
