It’s 7:02 a.m, 45° headed to 54° with plenty of sun. Details are here.

If anyone wants to relive the sound of the Mission District after the Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies to earn a spot in the World Series, go here to the Phillies Baseball Shop Fan Shop. It ends as it starts so two seconds will do.

To calm you afterwards, click here (photo by Twita2005).  It’s next door to the Mission on Tennessee. Love it. Is it a Banksy?

Plans for tomorrow? If not and you feel like venturing out of the Mission, the SFMOMA will have a marathon showing of 75 Reasons to live – 75 artists talking about 75 pieces of art from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And if you wonder where Eric Fisher has been in 2010, see this. If you wonder who Fisher is, read this.

Have a good week. Lydia

I’ve been a Mission resident since 1998 and a professor emeritus at Berkeley’s J-school since 2019. I got my start in newspapers at the Albuquerque Tribune in the city where I was born and raised. Like many local news outlets, The Tribune no longer exists. I left daily newspapers after working at The New York Times for the business, foreign and city desks. Lucky for all of us, it is still here.

As an old friend once pointed out, local has long been in my bones. My Master’s Project at Columbia, later published in New York Magazine, was on New York City’s experiment in community boards.

As founder and an editor at ML, I've been trying to figure out how to make my interest in local news sustainable. If Mission Local is a model, the answer might be that you - the readers - reward steady and smart content. As a thank you for that support we work every day to make our content even better.
