Firefighters responded to a call at 7:15 a.m., and subdued the fire after 45 minutes. SF Appeal has the story.
UPDATE 2:40 p.m. A worker cleaning up the site said the fire was confined to a storage area and the residents will not have to move out.

This building functions as a home for several persons with mental disabilities. They are wonderful neighbors, some of them for many years, but a few of the more upscale homeowners on the block have long wanted to kick them out. I hope this fire really doesn’t force them to leave our block.
