Reports were coming in last night of filthy water in the Mission, possibly related to a water main break further up on Division StreetTipster Carla Arriola sends in this picture of the water in her apartment, which is on the east side of the neighborhood.
Mission Local reporters are calling DWP to figure out the situation. Water in the western part of the neighborhood appears fine.
In other neighborhood news, I saw this interesting coffee mug exhibit (?) outside of the Sun Rise Cafe on 24th Street.
Titled “Templo de Recuerdos De La Calle 24,” I’m not sure if these awesome mugs incorporating most of 24th Street’s landmarks are for sale, or whether they’re just there for show. My wager is if you really want the Dirty Thieves mug, it’s yours. Also, who thinks I need a better cameraphone?
Last, new Mission Mission music columnist (again, (?)) Vic Wong posts this video of mystery-instrument-playing Jozef Van Wissem at the Lab last night. He calls it a renaissance lute, but it looks a bit different than what comes up in a Google image search – me not knowing what a renaissance lute actually is. If Lark in the Morning were still in business, we could ask them. Either way, he sounds great, and Ultra-Oud Harptar is just as good a name as any for the instrument.

sweet! what an amazing instrument. I’m also comforted by the fact that there is a Lute Society of America.
I goofed, it’s actually a Baroque Lute. http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~lsa/aboutLute/Baroque.html
I noticed last night that my water had a yellowish color on 18th Street, just west of Mission.
