Map showing the 16th Street BART station in San Francisco with a highlighted circular area around the station.

Last updated:

This dashboard uses daily incident reports filed by officers and published by the San Francisco Police Department to track enforcement of common violations, including drug-related offenses or disorderly conduct. Read our article on how to best use and understand this dashboard.

Our dashboard updates daily at noon to include the most current data: arrests and citations issued the day before.

The data shown here is not an exact representation of criminal activity in the area around 16th Street and Mission. What this police data shows most clearly, over time, is where the police department is focusing resources and attention.

Arrests and citations in last 6 months at 16th and Mission

You can access our calendar archive, with arrests and citations data from 2018, here.

The calendar below shows a snapshot of the arrests and citations issued around a 300-meter radius of the 16th Street BART Plaza for the last six months.

The data below should be considered the most accurate moment-in-time representation of arrests and citations on the day they were filed. Hover over each date to see the reasons for each arrest or citation.

The darker the date, the more arrests and citations took place that day.

Drug incidents at 16th and Mission

Explore the number of drug-related arrests and citations issued by SFPD around 16th and Mission each month since 2018.

Data for the most recent month will always be incomplete (and consequently lower) because it includes only arrests and citations through yesterday, while previous months reflect full monthly totals.

Methodology

In our reporting, Mission Local analyzed publicly available police incident reports from the San Francisco Police Department published on S.F. Open Data. In our analysis, we only include “initial” reports, which is the first report filed for an incident, and incidents that resulted in arrests or citations. This means that we have excluded incident reports filed by individuals, follow-up reports and any that are not yet resolved.

The incident reports we captured reflect arrests and citations in an approximately 300-meter radius around the 16th Street BART Plaza.

The San Francisco Police Department updates their data daily at 10 a.m with incident reports filed the previous day. Our dashboard is designed to update at noon everyday with the latest data available.

The latest data available at any point will have a 24-hour lag. For example, at noon on Dec. 4, 2025, S.F. Open Data and our dashboard will show incident reports from 2018 through Dec. 3, 2025.
